Arriving
One moment you're in your own world fighting, sleeping, eating, talking, the list is endless, but everything will change in just one instant. Something shouts your name. A voice that shouldn't be familiar, yet somehow is. You turn your head for even the briefest of seconds to check and for a moment you might think you catch the sight of something blue... You don't have long to check as suddenly you're picked up. It's difficult to keep your eyes open as your tossed around inside a tunnel of bright lights and numbers, but it lasts thirty seconds or maybe a minute tops before it's over. You'd expect to be tossed on the ground by some sort of tornado, but that doesn't seem to be the case. When you open your eyes, though, you realize you're sitting in a chair in the middle of a waiting room of some sort. The place is something reminiscent of a doctor’s office or a hospital. There are only two exits in this room: a set of double doors to your left, and a glass revolving door behind you. Neither of them will open right now if you attempt to leave. A receptions desk sits directly in front of where you woke up with a television hung up on the wall next to it, the screen turned off for the time being. You’re free to move about, but your body is sore. If you look, however, you will find no sign of bruising. The television turns on, revealing the face of a young boy. He’s serious as he stares out of the screen, almost as though he is watching your every move. Hello, new Chosen Child. I would like to first say that I do apologize for any inconvenience being brought here might have on you. Trust me when I say none of the rest of us ever planned to leave our worlds either, or expected it. I cannot tell you not to panic because, to be fair, that is far too unreasonable considering you have just been pulled from your home to the Digital World. But I’m getting ahead of myself. My name's Koushirou Izumi and I'm a Chosen Child just like you. There are a few things I’d like to discuss here, but don’t worry. If you miss something, you may read a transcript of this recording at your leisure on your communication device which you will receive after I have finished. I’d like to welcome you to HospiTown. Yes, you are in a hospital, but not for treatment. We have had to move our main base of operations recently because our town, Terminal Tokyo, was...well, I can’t quite say it was destroyed. It is just simply gone. Two powerful Digimon called Jupitermon and Minervamon arrived on New Years Eve and sometime during their fight, the city vanished. I don’t believe it to be obliterated. If that were the case, the Chosen who were there would not have survived. Unless there was some other force involved… Ah, but I digress. The fact of the matter is, you were brought here because the Digital World is in trouble. How is it in trouble? We don't know exactly. Normally it's an evil Digimon trying to take over, but that doesn't seem to be the case right now. All worlds are connected, however, and that's the reason you were able to be brought here. One thing we do know is that has something to do with the ARCloner, or the Augmented Reality Cloner. How it’s all connected, we’re still not...entirely sure, but all the data I have collected seems to point in its direction. As for how you got here, the Digital World seems to be controlling the gates that once let us move between worlds of our own free will. At one point, we were able to come and go as we please, but now...it’s like we’ve been locked inside a world that is slowly becoming a mixture of the Digital World and other worlds. Take Terminal Tokyo, for example. It was originally Terminal City of the Digital World, but as it merged with my world, bits and pieces of Tokyo, Japan. Hence the name Terminal Tokyo. There are likely other areas in similar shape, but we have not found them all yet. It is only a matter of time, though. It is not like that here in HospiTown. This place is just as the Digital World originally made it. As I mentioned before, you are in fact in a hospital, but since Terminal Tokyo has disappeared, we have had to make do with what we have. The Digimon here have been gracious enough to dedicate an entire wing of their hospital to housing the Chosen Children who come. It’s not as comfortable as the apartments of our previous home away from home, but we have to make do with what we have. Oh, one more thing before I let you go. Your Digimon partner should enter shortly, and you will be free to move about as you please. Well, except through the main door behind you. It’s been permanently locked not to keep you in, but to keep others out so we can use this room for all of our new arrivals. Just one more thing we’ve had to work around so that the transition from your world to the Digital World is more smooth. Your partner will be able to show you the proper exit out of the building itself, as well as answer any questions you might have since I am not there to answer them for you. Don’t worry. They’re not there to hurt you, but to help you. Ah, and when you receive your D-Terminal, your communications device, you will get a message with your rooming assignment and how much bit you have in your account. Bit is the currency here. You can earn money in a variety of ways, like working, training, and others. Though I’m not sure how easy it will be to find a job in HospiTown… I hope this covered most of your questions. Unfortunately I can't answer why you were chosen to be here, but whatever it is the Digital World thought you could help. That's all we know. Good luck, and welcome to HospiTown. The television shuts itself off and you’re left alone in the waiting room until your partner enters from the door to your left. Appearing on the reception desk are two devices. One is the D-Stream, something that looks to be a little larger than that of a virtual pet. The second device is much larger and roughly the size of a Nintendo DS. Upon opening it you will see a keyboard and a screen. This is your D-Terminal, which will allow you to communicate with anyone on the server. Upon opening the D-Terminal, a message will appear! ROOM XX-XX BIT: 1000 TRANSCRIPTION OF ARRIVAL MESSAGE GUIDE TO THE DIGITAL WORLD Hopefully the recording answered the rest of your questions. If not, it's unfortunate for you as no one else has anything else to give. After watching the video and receiving both your D-Stream and D-Terminal, you're free to leave the room! Once you leave you won't be let in to the waiting room again unless absolutely necessary and will find the doors locked no matter what you try. Good luck and welcome to |
